East < GO > West

The 21 Unit Country Club Court eventually became the 36 unit 21 Motel was before it was torn down in 2018 or 2019, but the 21 Motel sign was still there in 2022. 12 units had been added in 1958 when D. W. Fells Inc. bought the property from Morris D. Winkler, that seems to be when the name changed from "Court" to "Motel". It also did time as the Spanish Gate Motel and the Prince Motel. It was one of the older motels on west Central Avenue in Albuquerque. Central Avenue was the post 1937 alignment of Route 66 and ran all the way through town from east to west.

x Probably one of the simpler neon signs that flourished on motels along Central Ave. The neon tubing was still in place, not sure if it lit up at night though.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
