The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) erected 12 identical Madonna
of the Trail statues across the country during the late 1920s. The one
in Albuquerque was erected in 1928 and later moved to this location.

There
is another monument here that holds a times capsule from when the statue
was moved to this location. The marker reads:
