In 1929 James Scully and his son William bought a year old gas station on the original Route 66 that stood about 150 feet from this spot they expanded it and turned it into the well known and well respected Scully's Restaurant.

When the highway was realigned in the early 1950s they moved the buildings and business that 150 feet to where it stands now. That move included a complete remodeling of the dining room and the addition of a bay widow where a door had been. At some later time the added the motel on the west side of the restaurant.

The former Scully's, now the Agape House, stands across the street from the VFW/Skylark Motel. Agape House is a Human Services Agency.

xAgape House now occupies Scully Motel & Restaurant) property.

xPostcards show gas pumps by the restaurant. At some point those disappeared and this Standard Oil Station was built on the corner. The Standard Station was operating in the very early 1960s.

Geneva Scully donated the property including the motel and restaurant to the Agape House. They have been there since 1985 and it had been vacant then for 17 years.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
