Rainey's Tow Service is located on the north side just past Farm Road
93. Bert & Ina Rainey bought an old gas station and a wrecker in 1946
and went into business here. The old D-X gas sign is still standing out
front but the lettering has been covered with a signboard that used to
read "Rainey's". This part of the original Route 66 was bypassed
in 1964 when I-44 opened.
The Rainey's added the second floor so they had a place to live. The
first floor of the old station was used for a store and cafe. They also
added a garage for the wreckers and have been in the wrecker business
since 1946.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
