Helfrecht Motor Court
604 N. West Bypass, Springfield, MO
Phone:
The 1930s Helfrecht's Motor Court featured, a Conoco station and cafe
in this building. There were also four cabins where travel weary tourists
could spend the night. The one car garage on the cafe station building
was also added later. The gas pumps stood in front of the single entry
door. This site is on Hwy. 160 ( N West Bypass) & W. Waddil St. on
the East side, just a block or so north of Danny's
Service Station. The cabins are gone, but stood approximately just
behind and to the left of the two car garage in this photo. That garage
is a later addition to the property.
The
neon is long gone, but the word COURT is still faintly visible behind
the words Pawn Shop.
The
Helfrecht family home still stands next to the old cafe / gas station
building.
