This was the office for the Otto's Motel Courts & Restaurant. Wallace Otto built the motel in 1939 or 1940. I found a May 1940 newspaper clipping mentioning the motel. The Bell family bought the property in the mid-1940s and renamed it Bell's Motel Courts and at some point added eight more cabins. The Carroll's owned and operated the place 1952 into the 1990s.

The building shown above was the Truck Store when we snapped this photo in 2016, but they seem to have moved on.

x This building was just across the fence on the east side of the Truck Store when we went by in 2016. I thought it might have been one of the cottages, but I'm not sure, at any rate it's gone now.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
