The old Frisco Railroad: Ship it on the Frisco bridge was
built in 1931 for the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway. Some of the
original wooden trestle approaches to the steel plate girder center section
are visible in the photo. The bridge was repaired after a derailment damaged
part of it in 2002. The wooden trestle on the north side has been replaced
by a steel trestle. The steel center section of the bridge appears to
span at least 100 feet. According to the info plaque at the deck the somewhat
faded lettering on the bridge is original from 1931.
A photo deck is located on the west side of the bridge in the Kendrick
... shopping center. Going west take the first right after the bridge
and then the next right and then turn right in the parking lot to the
deck.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
