The John Dillon home was constructed of hand hewn logs by Levi. L. Snelson in 1838 in Dillon, MO, a few miles east of Rolla. Phelps County was incorporated in 1857, and the first county circuit court meeting was held in the house. It was moved to Rolla in the late 1960s and became the Phelps County museum.

The museum is home to many artifacts that illustrate the history of Phelps County and its people. It is open on Friday mornings and by appointment for groups to tour.

It is located across the street from the historic 1859 Phelps County Courthouse, which along with the Dillon House is owned by the Phelps County Historical Society.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
