The Rolla Public Library was the US Post Office from 1915-1965. It took about a year and a half to construct the building starting in September of 1913. After the Post office moved out the building became occupied by the Rolla Free Public Library. In 2017 the library turned what was just some busted up concrete and an old rusty book return box into a pocket park between the old library and the children's library next door.

xThe long wall of the children's library on the side of the pocket park became the canvas for this cool mural. The mural was designed by Kent Bagnall, owner of Kent's Jewelry (located across the street). The Rolla Technical Institute's auto body class reconditioned the book deposit box and Rolla High School art teacher, Shannon Engelbrecht, and her some of her students painted the mural with Bagnall's help.

xIn 2013 Kent Bagnall had Craig Thomas from Cape Girardeau paint this mural on the side of his jewelry store across the street from the library.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
