This location has been home to a D-X station since at least the early
1940s. This building dates to the early 1960s according to the Lebanon/Laclede
County Route 66 Society. The station has been restored since these photos
were snapped in 2016 (top) and 2012 (bottom). Now there is a vintage style
D-X sign on the tower.
The bottom photo shows the original concrete block exterior and top
photo shows the building with a new brick veneer to match the owners
building next-door.
In
2012 it was the J & A Auto Sales lot.
About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
