Campbell 66 Express Trucking Building900 W. Elm St., Lebanon, MOPhone:
These photos show the mural on the Elm Street side of the building when we went by in 2012. Not long after that a new occupant began using the building and painted over the mural, it's just a basic white building now. It is located at 900 Elm Streets (Route 66) at Utah St. Unfortunately the church chose to paint over the historic Campbell 66 Express sign. That's another reason to get out on the route and see what you can before it disappears. Here's a little bigger picture of the camel in the Campbell 66 Express logo. Frank G. Campbell purchased the 66 Transit Company and renamed it after himself and used the camel as a logo because he pronounced his name "camel". His sign painter created the running camel and Campbell added 66 to the hump. He called the camel Snortin' Norton and used the slogan "Humpin' to Please. There is now a Frank G. Campbell Award for Outstanding Service that is given out to people who have done outstanding work in the trucking industry. Campbell 66 Trucking closed in 1986 and Frank Campbell died in 1989.
