In 2015 the city of Lebanon added a Route 66 theme to Boswell City Park.
These two mural from 2017 pay tribute to the Nelson family. The fountain
is a replica of one that stood at the Nelson's Dream Village. The murals
are made from tiles created by Paul Whitehall from Joplin.
This
was the first Route 66 themed mural unveiled at Boswell Park in 2017.
The mural features a 1957 Chevy cruising through Lebanon. It also feature
vintage images of the 4 Acre
Courts, The Carter
Lawson Phillips 66, Lenz
HoMotel, all in Lebanon and also the Underpass
Cafe in Phillipsburg,
This
was the second mural unveiled at Boswell Park in 2017 a few weeks after
the first, it features the Gasconade River bridge and the Nelson's 1918
Chevrolet Petroleum truck delivery truck.

In
2019 the last Camp Joy cabin still standing was donated to the Lebanon-
Laclede County Route 66 Society and moved to Boswell Park. Camp Joy
is believed to be the first tourist camp in Lebanon. This photo was
snapped in 2019, 1n 2024 a replica of the Camp Joy arch was installed
by the cabin.
These
were pretty basic cabins.
But
they did have individual climate control systems, you just put some
more coal in the little stove, or opened a window, depending on the
season!
