This building is a former Cities Service Station located at 302 N Main St. NW on B St. Joplin, MO, It was a Texaco station years ago, but is painted with Cities Service style green stripes above the doors and windows in this photo.

The concrete block building is covered with white enameled panels on the from and sides. The large windows in the office area have been partially filled in with wood panels. The back is plain concrete block. There is an overhead door on the back wall making the far service bay a drive through. The single door on the side was probably an entrance to the ladies restroom, a common arrangement for this period style.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
