What looks like an old motel was apparently built as an apartment building by Neil and Mildred Hancock. It became home to the Wayside Inn bar in the late 1960s when it was acquired by Elva Lea Stewart Hensen. The Wayside Inn closed in the late 1990s and the building sat unused for many years, it is private property now.

As close as I can tell the building was probably constructed in the early 1950s about when the four lane 66 was built.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
