The Hazelgreen United Methodist Church started out as the Lane Chapel Union in 1876 and spent it's first few years in the Harrison log schoolhouse. A few locations later this building was constructed in 1950 on Heartwood Road (Route 66), which is now the south outer (frontage) road for I-44. Heartwood Road follows the original 1926 alignment of Route 66 at this point.

xBut keep your eyes open because you can zip right past it in the blink of an eye, even at the relaxed pace most Route 66 travelers move at.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
