This was originally the Gray & Archer Filling Station which opened their business here in 1925. The canopy over the pump island is original and is as wide as the original one room station was. The part without the large canopy was added later, but at least by the mid-1940s.

Over the years the building has housed the Stateline Mercantile / Paddoc State Line Liquor and possibly others. It is located at the MO/KS state line between the Route 66 Bowl and the Harry's Super Station. The building has been remodeled several times. The single door entrance on the newer part of the building has replaced a double door entrance between large windows.

x There was a single replica visible gas pump on the pump island out front when we snapped this photo in 2013. The was a second pump location on the island, but the pump was missing.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
