By 1947 M.S Murrell and L.E. Newman had opened the Murrell Tourist Rooms
and Cabins. It was pretty common in the early years of Route 66 for people
who owned larger homes to open the house to travelers on a day by day
basis.
If
lodging guests in the main house went well, they sometimes built a few
cabins behind the main house to expand their business. These cabins
are in back of the big white house on Sophia St.
