Central Park features a Victorian fountain in the center of the Fish Basin
pool that was placed in the park in 1900 by the ladies of the Carthage
Federation of Clubs. The park is a couple of blocks south of Oak on Garrison.
This statue of the late Marlin Perkins dates to 1988. He hosted "Mutual
of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" program on television from 1963 to 1985.
Perkins was born in Carthage and grew up to be a zoologist on his way
to becoming a TV star.
There is also a band shell as well as a bathhouse with a wading pool
in the park.
