This very cool old neon sign has been taken down. Sonrise Donuts opened in 1947 on South Grand Avenue and it later moved to this location. They had a fifty plus year run before closing in 1998 after the owner died. According to the sign they also had a coffee bar, which may have been the first for a donut shop in Springfield.

The building appeared to be empty in 2015. but apparently a new cafe has moved in since then and the sign has been removed. It is located at 9th St.& Scarritt St.
