The Lazy A Motel was built in 1948-1949 as a U-shaped motel with 13 guest rooms, 7 in the back section and 3 in each of the wings on the ends. There were also 12 garages with overhead doors between the units. Only three garages remain, the others have been converted into bedrooms or kitchens. The motel is currently used as an apartments.

xThe office was in the middle of the center section under the second floor owners/managers quarters. The roof line used to be accented with neon tube lighting. The rail fence out front with its wagon wheel accents is long gone as is the Lazy A Motel sign.

The motel was built by Harold Gordon and Daisy Gordon Tucker and was placed on the NRHP in 1994. It is located on Peoria Rd, just south of Taintor Rd (across from fairground's race track).

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
