This 30-foot tall "Rail Splitter" statue was created by John
Rinnus for Illinois Sesquicentennial in 1968. John Rinnus was a department
store display director and he made the young Abraham Lincoln from fiberglass.
The statue stands just inside Gate 1 (in front of the Illinois Building)
at the Fairgrounds. (E Sangamon Ave.& N 11th St.)

road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
