The Best Rest Inn was formerly known as Miller's Motor Court and was
built in 1950. According to the Springfield City Directory the Miller
Motor Court was one of 34 motels and motor courts along the various
alignments of Route 66 in the city.
This was one of the 16 listed in the 1950 version of the directory, that version called the businesses "Tourist Courts". Only 5 of thos sixteen were still standing in 1994. Of the thrity-four on the 1958 list only eleven were still stnding in 1994. More of those have vanished since then.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
