This building was a tavern or restaurant for over 100 years. In the mid 1990s it still had the original pressed tin ceiling. For the first eleven years from 1897 to 1908 it was the Horvath Cafe. For the next 56 years it was known as Jerman's Tavern. Sometime after that it became "The Keg" or "The Olde Keg" a pub and pizza place.

The building was still signed as The Olde Keg in 2016, but some of the windows were boarded up, so it appeared to be closed. There was/is an apartment on the second floor.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
