When it was new this 1885 building had three retail spaces on the ground floor with office and other spaces on the second floor. One of those spaces was occupied by the Moose Hall from 1931 until 1940 when they bought their own building and across the street. At one time it was connect to the opera house next-door and used as a "green room".

This is one of many buildings John S. Trares built and owned in Edwardsville.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
