This looks like a giant Catsup bottle on stilts, but it's really a 100,000 gallon water tower and it's one fun photo opportunity in Collinsville. It stands 170 feet tall, 100 feet of that being the legs, the bottle is 70 feet tall.

The Catsup Bottle had it's own annual World's Largest Catsup Bottle Festival Birthday Party & Car Show for many years. How many Catsup Bottles can make that claim?

It is located just south of Collinsville on Route 159 (Morrison Ave.) which was part of the 1957-1961 alignment of Route 66.

It was built in 1949 for G.S. Suppiger bottling plant that produced Brooks Catsup. In 1995 it was saved from demolition and was restored. In 2002 it was named to the National Register of Historic Places. A $77,400.00 US restoration project was completed in 1995.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
