The 1901 Pollock Building started life as a one story structure built out of local volcanic rock on the former site of the Hotel Tolfree. It was built after a major fire that burned through downtown Williams that year and a number of displaced businesses moved in. Those businesses included the the Arizona Central Bank, the Williams News newspaper, the Telegraph office and the Williams Drug co.

The Williams Masonic Temple bought the building in 1928 and used brick to add the second story to the building. A brick second floor had been planned for the original building, but it wasn't constructed until the Masons did it.

The building, located on eastbound Route 66 at S. 3rd, St., was touched up in 2009 and some of the windows on the S 3rd St. side were filled with displays created by a local youth group.

A historic Marker on the building reads:

Pollock Building

Built of locally quarried volcanic rock in 1901, this edifice housed a bank and many businesses displaced by the 1901 fire. These included the local newspaper, telegraph office, and eventually Arnold's, a famous Route 66 eatery. In 1928, the Masonic Lodge added the brick second story.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Williams Historic Business District.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
