This mural is on the west side of a building on eastbound Route 66 between
3rd and 2nd Streets. It commemorates Williams being the last town bypassed
by Route 66. The bypass opened on October 13, 1984. I don't know exactly
when this mural was painted, but it I don't recall seeing in 2011 and
we did see it in 2013.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
