El Rancho Motel

617 E. Route 66., Williams, AZ
Phone:
x

East < GO > West

The 18-unit El Rancho opened in late 1953 and advertised "Tubs and Showers in Every Room". In 1959/60 AAA said the property was "very attractive and well maintained". At the time you could rent a room here for $8.00 - $10.00 per night. Later renovation and expansion resulted in the addition of 2 units to the two-story building. A swimming pool was added to the property in 1964, it's surrounded by the fence on the right in this photo.

xIt looks like the same sign can as when it opened but a different color. Originally there was neon on both sides of this sign. Because the sign is a one way street going east, there is neon on that side of the sign, but not on the westbound side seen here.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
