Truxton Cafe

15961 Route 66, Truxton, AZ
Phone:

East < GO > West

The vacant 1951 Truxton Cafe and Texaco Gas Station was one of the first businesses in and still stands along Route 66 on the east side of town as a reminder of the heyday of this little town. That small building on the right was the restrooms.
x Donald Dilts opened the cafe and gas station after he and his Partner Clyde McCune had opened a nearby garage in anticipation of traffic from a proposed but never realized dam project on the Colorado River. There is what appears to be fairly large addition on the back of the building that is just peaking out on the left in this photo.

This photo gives a better view of the property including the sign and light posts as well as the empty pump islands out front.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
