Former Chevron Station

Truxton, AZ
Phone:

East < GO > West

This former Chevron Service Station building dates to the early 1950s. The concrete drive and a pair of pump islands are still in place in these photos. There were apparently at least four gas pumps at this little station. Think about that, there were at least six gas stations in this tiny little town. How much traffic must it have taken to support all of them when the Mother Road was at its peak?

xIn 2013 there was a "Junk Art 66" sign out front. That's gone and the 2017 photo at the top of this page shows a small new structure next to the station.

xThe small sign post was stuck in the pump island closest to the road.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
