Seligman has a rather elaborate welcome sign near both I-40 interchanges
(121 and 123) on the east and west ends of town. If you are entering town
on the old road rather than from the freeway, the sign on the west end
is easier to find. The claim to the title "Birthplace of Historic
Route 66" is based on the efforts of Angel Delgadillo (and others)
to promote the town and road after the town was bypassed by I-40.
The sign lists a number of local churches as well as the Chamber of
Commerce and the Historical Society.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
