Maurice's Motel & Cafe

Route 66, Pittman Valley, AZ

East < GO > West

The early 1950s Maurice's Groceries, Motel and Cafe is West of the Parks general Store, it was also known as Louie Long's at some point. The sign above the canopy has been painted over but used to say Groceries in large letters and Maurice's Motel-Cafe in smaller letters. Between the two sets of lettering was a Mobil Oil Pegasus. There was a Route 66 shield painted before the Groceries.

x It's still there but the motel appears to be in pretty rough shape and no longer operating.

x I'm not sure what was in the collapsed building just west of the motel, but it's history now.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
