12963 Old Route 66, Parks, AZ

East < GO > West

The 1921 "Parks in the Pines General Store" is located on old Route 66 just shortly after the pavement begins again going west after leaving Brannigan Park. It's also a Union 76 gas station and deli/cafe. Coming from the east on the old road you've just left the gravel road that runs through Brannigan Park.

The store pretty much turned itself around by moving the windows, entrance and gas pumps when the road was moved in 1931. Before that it faced the other direction to face the previous alignment of the road. At the time it was selling Red Crown Gas.

The coast to coast Bunion Derby foot race passed this point in 1928.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
