The former Sundown Motel and Coffee Shop buildings are still standing, but have been repurposed for other uses. The motel was built in 1949 and was remodeled in 1953. In the 1970s it was part of the Landmark Inns of America which was apparently founded in 1972. The Sundown Dining Room & Coffee Shop was built in 1952.

xThe Coffee Shop building has had a mansard style parapet added.

NOTE: The front of the 70s postcard shows a small sign above the motel name indicating it was a Landmark Inns of America member. No phone number listed for the dining room and coffee shop. It was common, but not very helpful, to not list and actual address on postcards.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
