This is the Route 66 Back Country Byway marker at milepost 8, a short distance north of Golden Shores. This marker and the Historic Route 66 National Back Country Byway webpage caution about driving wide vehicles or those over 30 feet long on this road.

There is a sign like this one just north of milepost 6, but it faces south so you might well miss it when coming from Oatman.

The 42 mile Historic Route 66 National Back Country Byway is the road that goes from McConnico through Oatman and on to Golden Shores. The end points are just west of McConnico on the east and just north of Golden Shores on the west end.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
