The Transportation Hub Historic Markers are located right next to the
Ash Fork Public Library on westbound Route 66 (Lewis Ave.) There is a
plaque here for the historic Escalante Hotel, a Harvey House that was
built in 1907 and was torn down in the 1970's. Another plaque commemorates
the railroad maintenance camp the was once here and another the coming
of Route 66. The arch on top recalls the famous arch on the Harvey House

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
