This former Texaco station has been renovated since this photo was snapped
and is now a BnB.
The Gas Station and Garage buildimg from the mid-50s is a fixture on Route
66 in Ash Fork, the 1960 DeSoto on the roof might be part of the reason.
The station was converted to DeSoto's Salon in 2001 by Joe and Edie DeSoto,
so no, it's not named after the car. But they did reportedly drive around
town in a 1949 DeSoto to promote the business. The Salon closed around
2011. I'm not sure who put the caar on the roof.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
