1932 Rock Island Railroad Bridge

This 1932 Chicago Rock Island & Gulf Railroad bridge spans 125 feet in all using 5 separate spans. The railbed it spans has been abandoned. The 36 foot center span is concrete encased steel I-beams and the other four spans are reinforced concrete. The railings are conrete posts with double concrete rails. The original concrete deck has been paved over with asphalt.

I-40 was completed here about 1970 and is only about 30 feet north of this bridge.
