McLean-Alanreed Museum
116 N Main St, McLean, TX
Phone: 806-779-2731
The McLean-Alanreed Museum occupies a 1920 building on Main Street that
once house four separate businesses. The museum was established in 1969.
Like many other local museums along Route 66, this one has limited hours.
There
are a couple of murals in the museum windows.
The
murals are worth a look even if the museum is closed due to its limited
hours.
A
couple of other notable building were located across the street on the
same block. On the left in this photo is the 1914 O-Dell Hotel which
became the Hindman Hotel in 1916 and next to it is the 1936 Avalon Theater,
both torn down since this 2012 photo. The theater closed in the 1980s.
