The Guyton Motor Company opened in 1950 and offered a twenty-four hour wrecker and mechanic service and continued operating until the mid 1990s. The building has been torn down since this photo was taken.

Before this building was constructed there was a Magnolia gas station on this site. The building is on the SW corner of 1st St. and Gray St. just west of the restored Phillips 66 Station.

The 30 panel garage door shown here next to the office is the original. The other garage door is a later replacement. There is also another large 30 panel roll up garage door on the back of the building directly behind the office. The canopy over the entrance and office window is a 1970's addition.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
