East < GO > West

The Rama Motel started out as the Colonial Courts in 1952 with a total of 40 or so units, 10 or so in the two story building along with the office and a coffee shop and 30 or so in the single story sections. In newspaper articles from when it open it was called both the Colonial Courts and Colonial Motel. Eventually it became the the Rama Motel. It is next to the Eastridge Bowling Lanes on the east side of Amarillo.

x The colonial styling of the building fit well with the original name. There was a swimming pool in the courtyard, but it has been filled in.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
