When we took this photo in 2012 this old gas station looked like it was
last used car sales lot. It looks to be a late 20s or early 1930s style
gas station. It is located on SW 6th Ave. at Monroe. When we were there
it looked like it was unoccupied. The Texas Historic Resources Survey
lists this as a Gulf Oil Station.
There is a one service bay attached to the south side corner. That
may well have been a later addition. There is only single rather sturdy
looking column supporting the canopy. There were pumps on either side
of the column.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
