When Zella's Cafe opened in 1928 the road out front hadn't been paved yet, and neither had the dirt floor inside. The next owners built a new cafe next to the old one and renamed it Jesse's Cafe. The new building originally had a much steeper pitch to the gable roof providing for a partial second floor.

A number of owners later it became the Midpoint Cafe in 1995. The cafe operates on a seasonal basis.

x Check out the mid-century modern furniture. Those tables and chairs could have come right out of a 50's family kitchen most anywhere in America.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
