Guest Inn / Chateau InnYukon, OKPhone:
The invitation in the local newspaper included a bit of description of the decor which included "... natural rock walls, lantern lighting, beautiful furniture, multi-colored carpets and both radio and TV in each room". The motel also featured a swimming pool in the courtyard. The 1964/65 AAA Tour Book lists room rates here as ranging from $6.50 to $10.50 plus a bit more for more than two people. In October of 1994 the old Chateau Inn became the Scenic 66 Motel and celebrated by holding a ribbon cutting and open house attended by several city officials and chamber of commerce members. When it became the Guest inn is still a mystery to me, but the photo at the top of this page is from 2013.. ----------

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
