"Sweet Tater" Clanton opened the Busy Bee Cafe in 1927 and later
moved to this building, the former Grand Cafe and changed the name to
Clanton's. Eighty-plus years later the Clanton's is still run by family
members making it Oklahoma's oldest family run restaurant on the Mother
Road. The place burned in 1999 but was rebuilt and reopened. It is the
longest continually owned family restaurant on Route 66 in Oklahoma.
Getting right to the point Clantons large neon sign out front declares
"EAT"! That is so reminiscent of many roadside cafes on the
early Route 66. And this sign is HUGE!

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
