The 1924 Blue Dome Gulf Station and Garage building are well enough known
that the neighborhood around it is called the Blue Dome District. Before
they were torn down for a street widening project there were canopies
on facing both streets that covered the gas pumps. When it was new there
was a small apartment in the dome for the manager. Handily the gas station
attendant lived upstairs in the dome.
