William Alfred Mensch who was in the plumbing and tin-smithing business
completed this building in 1922. There was an addition built in 1924 that
nearly doubled the size of the building. The building was actually started
in 1921, but delays led to it apparently opening in early 1923.
There
is a plaque on the building stating it was added to the NRHP. The building
was placed on the NRHP in 2000.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
