The Owl Court site included a gas station, cafe and motor court. The motor court (motel) is behind the fence in these photos. As of 2018 the property is being rehabilitated and repurposed with at least one building being demolished in the process. As far as I know the gas station is staying in place as part of the renovated property.

x The gas station was built in the 1930's on the 1931 Route 66 bypass. Apparently it also served as the motor court office. What's left of an old visible, gravity fed gas pump stands beside the station in this photo. There is an old Coca Cola sign on the street side of the gas station building in this photo, sadly that sign was stolen sometime after this photo was taken. The gas station is now a coffee shop.

x The cafe building on the left in this photo was torn down in the summer of 2018.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
