In 2013 the first floor was all that was left of the old Narcissa Garage, gas station and grocery store. I've found very little information about this building. It may have originally been part of the Gaines Brothers Construction business.

x In 2012 the second floor over the cafe/store section of the building was pretty dilapitated but still there. The Narcissa DX gas station across the road where you see that small building in the background this photo, but most of it has been torn down.

The roof is missing on this bay of the garage section of the building but the steel I-beams that supported it are still in place. The Giraffe style stone walls seem to be holding up nicely.

The old wooden overhead garage door was getting pretty dilapitated but still in place in the older service bay. Look carefully and between the two doors you can see a line where it appears the feft section of the building was a later addition in the same syle

Judging by what you can see through the windows it looks like they just shut the door one day and walked away, not to return to running the cafe or store that was located in the concrete block addition to the original building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
