Serenity Inn

10980 US 69 (Route 66), Miami, OK

East < GO > West

The Former Frontier Motel was the Serenity Inn when we went by in 2016. It is just west of town on Hwy 69 used to be a motel but has been converted to longer term rentals including a small mobile home park. I think the building on the left was the original motel mentioned in a 1955 travel guide, and the building on the right was added later but probably by the mid 1960s. That second building may have been a restaurant.

Note: There was apparently a pretty big change in this motel between when it was built and when the second postcard was published. Newly mentioned features like Phones, TV, Playground Restaurants, Duncan Hines and AAA speak to the changes. They also indicate a pretty serious effort to keep the motel in line with changing traveler expecttaions for accommodations.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
